2 : Dingle Distillery 2014 Single Malt Founding Father Cask No 50.5 Bourbon Fill 18/04/2014

This auction is closed, biddings on the lot are no longer possible

A rare opportunity to own a cask of 10 Year-Old Dingle Single Malt! 2014 (Distilled April 2014) Dingle Distillery Single Malt. It has been fully matured in a Bourbon cask. All bidders must read & agree to the terms & conditions from Dingle Distillery. This gives the option of remaining part of the Founding Father programme (with revised terms) or removing the cask from Dingle Distillery and moving (at your expense) to an alternative bonded warehouse. However, please read carefully so you can see associated charges with each option. We have duty paid for a 70cl sample from this cask prior to the regauge and potential buyers can purchase a sample for €10 (plus shipping if required). All money collected from samples will be donated to Debra Ireland. Samples can purchased/ordered by emailing Jack@celticwhiskeyauction.com or instore at Celtic Whiskey Shop, 27-28 Dawson Street, Dublin 2. Tasting notes from Dingle. Nose: Ripe bananas, caramelised apples and a slight hint of piped tobacco. Taste: Sweet toasted coconut, honey drenched nuts and fruit cocktail. Finish: Medium in length. Nice balance of sweetness and spice.

Why buy a cask – Buyers of casks are usually from 2 groups of people. Either buying for fun as an individual or as part of a group looking to follow the journey of the cask and then to decide on how long to mature or to change the maturation cask down the line. Or buying as an investment. The value of whiskey casks is related ultimately to supply & demand. Some companies are currently advertising that huge profits can be made but at Celtic Whiskey we'd like to reduce down these expectations. We would like to point out that the value can go up or down so like all investments you should take expert advice if you are buying for that reason. Just because a bottle sells on a retail shelf for say €100, that doesn't give it that value necessarily to a cask owner. The €100 includes 23% vat, a retailers margin, possibly a wholesalers margin, cost of bottling & dry goods, distribution cost, etc. Also, customers have to want to buy your particular product which is the reason similar aged whiskeys can have widely differing sales prices. If looking to sell on bottles of whiskey, please be aware you would need a wholesalers licence if not in the trade.
