The Yamazaki 10 Year Old is one of the first Japanese single malt whiskies to enter the market. It has now been discontinued, replaced by the Yamazaki 12, but it remains one of the most well-balanced single malts by the great Yamazaki distillery. Having taken over from the 10 year old the 12 year old expression has a proportion of the ageing being carried out in Japanese (Mizunara) oak this has taken on some wonderful exotic spice and incense aromas. A touch of Sherry cask ageing has enhanced it with some fruit and chocolate flavours. Despite all this the whisky remains delicate and easy going. Yamazaki 18 Year Old is an award winning Japanese single malt. This legendary 18 year old whisky earned a Gold at the 2007 International Spirits Challenge and a Double Gold at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
