Smooth, smoky and seductive, with a kirschlike aroma and loads of rich raspberry and dark cherry flavors. Has a real succulence, with chocolate notes that power up on the long finish. This wine is 45% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 35% Mourvedre, sourced from 33-year-old vines grown on basalt plateaus. The fruit is harvested by hand; the Syrah is then macerated for 6 weeks, and the Grenache for 2 months. Aged in 400L, 500L, and 600L barrels for 12 months. Terrasses du Larzac is an AOC within the Coteaux du Languedoc, created in 2005 for red wines made from Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre grapes, with the acceptable additions of Cinsaut and Carignan, and grown in some of the highest vineyards of the Coteaux du Languedoc on the slopes of the Cevennes.
