226 : Prestons 10 year old
This auction is closed, biddings on the lot are no longer possible
This bottle comes from the old firm of Prestons in Drogheda. Prestons can trace their history back to the 1300’s when wine was first traded in the town. The Prestons would import from Bordeaux and trade with various ports across England, Scotland and Ireland. The firm became one of the biggest wine and spirits merchants in the country and owned a brewery and distillery in the town. They had close ties with the company that was to become Grants of Ireland throughout the 1900s. 1960 saw the formation of Preston Bros and Co and later in 1964 the company officially became Grants of Ireland. This bottle is almost certainly from around 1964 as both companies are mentioned on the label.
