This is a version of Tullamore Dew that is presented with a special edition label for collectors. With a heritage dating back to 1829 Tullamore Dew is one of Ireland’s most famous whiskey brands. The old distillery was one of many unfortunate casualties of the downturn in Irish whiskey during the 20th century and ceased production in 1954. Fortunately the brand has been kept alive and has been in continuous production since the day it was formed. The name was first sold to Powers whiskey in the 1970s, and then became part of the Irish Distillers’ stable but is now owned by William Grant and Sons. An impressive new distillery was opened just outside the town of Tullamore in 2014 and production includes single pot still, single malt and single grain whiskeys on a large scale. These are already being used in some of the current bottlings. Old bottles are quite desirable and show great variety. These can of course come from either the old distillery, the old John Powers Distillery in Dublin or Midleton in County Cork. All of which makes the brand even more interesting as a collectible whiskey.
